Now don't get too excited! We are NOT pregnant with triplets, but our Dr. said we should have been this last cycle! I had four eggs drop and there were 266 million swimmers put inside me! 266 million and not one baby was made. You could see the Dr's disappointment for us. This last appointment was kind of a test for our dr. If he suggested another expensive cycle with needles and catheters we were leaving and going to get a second opinion. Thankfully he didn't recommend that. He did however want us to get immunology testing done. He thinks I could be allergic to Brad! Oh how this Dr. knows us so well already! :)
We had bloodwork done last Tuesday and the lab will test the Flow Cytometry for antipaternal antibodies. This test looks at my response to Brad's DNA. Our baby will be half my DNA and half Brad's DNA and just as the body will fight off a cold with an immune response, my body will fight off the part of the baby that is Brad's DNA if I am allergic to Brad. If this comes back positive we have a hard road ahead of us! Prior to us even trying to get pregnant I would need to start daily Heparin injections and 81 mg of Aspirin. The combination of these thin the blood enough to trick my body into carry a baby. I have done some research on this condition and the chance for miscarriage is extremely high. And if having a baby isn't enough excitement and nerves, giving yourself a daily shot and weekly blood draws to check your levels will not be fun. But, if this is what it takes to hold a little baby with half my DNA and half Brad's DNA, then we will do it!
We are trying to stay positive and are praying for the correct answer for the test results. If this is the reason for two years of not one positive pregnancy test then we will trust Him and stay strong through it! And if we don't have this condition, we will continue to trust in Him and stay strong through it! There is no other option!
